September 2022 LabCoP ECHO Session: Optimising the TB/HIV Diagnostic Cascade via Implementation of the Clinic-Laboratory Interface Continuous Quality Improvement (CLICQ!) Program

December 23, 2022

In LabCoP’s September ECHO session, ASLM and partners discussed optimising the TB/HIV diagnostic cascade through the implementation of the Clinic-Laboratory Interface Continuous Quality Improvement (CLICQ!) program. Optimal cascade performance requires that clinical and laboratory teams’ interface to ensure service continuity from identification of presumptive cases, specimen collection, transport and diagnostic testing, all the way through to result reporting. In this session we looked at CLICQ!, a mentorship-based program, and the use of a Diagnostic Cascade Evaluation (DiCE) toolkit to identify, quantify and target gaps in tuberculosis diagnostic and treatment services to maximise patient retention across the TB care cascade. Presentations were made by Jamie Dawson from the TB and Clinical Monitoring Team, the International Laboratory Branch of the Division of Global HIV and TB, Center for Global Health, at US CDC; Abdunoor Nyombi, Medical Lab Scientist from the National TB Reeference Lab-of the Ugandan MoH; Eke Ofuche, Associate Director, Laboratory Services, APIN, Nigeria; Davis Ashaba, Senior Laboratory Scientist and Lab Project Manager, AFENET, Uganda; and Stephen Adjei-Kyei, IT Programmer and Systems Analyst at ASLM.
