Pathogen Genomics : Under the Pathogen Genomics Initiative  (PGI) we build and scale up genomic sequencing capacity through sustainable mechanisms that integrate pathogen genomics into routine outbreak management and surveillance by public health institutions across Africa. This ensures that genomic data is consistently used to monitor and respond to health threats. We focus on building a continent-wide network of laboratories, bioinformatics, data systems, and skilled personnel. This network is essential for generating and utilizing pathogen genomics data to inform public health decisions.

By leveraging genomic data, the initiative aims to improve outbreak response and disease control. Finally, the initiative provides high-speed internet connectivity to ensure the timely analysis of genomic sequencing data.
