Despite remarkable progress in preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV, infants and children continue to face significant gaps in timely diagnosis and treatment. As vertical transmission rates decline, identifying children living with HIV requires more innovative, integrated, and community-centred approaches that extend beyond traditional maternal and child health services.

To support countries in strengthening paediatric HIV programmes, the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) has developed a Policy Brief on Early Infant Diagnosis (EID) and Paediatric HIV Case-Finding.
