Mid-July 2022 LabCoP Extended ECHO Session: Digitally-Assisted Technical Assistance Support for Rapid Test Continuous Quality Improvement across the Entire Value Chain

July 22, 2022

On 14 July 2022, ASLM’s LabCoP convened a webinar about the Rapid Test Continuous Quality Improvement (RT-CQI) initiative developed by PEPFAR and the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. In partnership with other stakeholders, it supports the strengthening of capacity and ongoing assessment of facility and individual tester competency in performing rapid tests. Given the often-high number of facilities that conduct rapid testing (sometimes multiple testing sites within the same facility), and individual testers, digital solutions have a potential to provide reliable real-time information in progress to field staff, managers, implementers, and governments. In this session, Dr Tim Tucker, Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town School of Public Health and CEO of SEAD Consulting; Ms Makhosazana (Khosi) Makhanya, Senior Public Health Specialist-Laboratory Advisor, US CDC, South Africa; and Prof Alash’le Abimiku, Executive Director, International Research Center of Excellence at the Institute of Human Virology-Nigeria, discussed the implementation of an innovative solution for RT-CQI program in South Africa, the benefits from the funding agency, and implementing partners perspectives respectively.
