Following the WHO recommendation in 2022, stool-based testing has been introduced globally, with particular success in several African countries. In this session, presented by Mansa Mbenga, MD, DTMH, Team Lead, Treatment & Care, the Netherlands, Petra de Haas, Senior Technical Laboratory Consultant at KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, the Netherlands and Nkiru Nwokoye, Director of Laboratory Services at KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation Nigeria, we share guidance on for stool-based testing in the TB algorithms, the importance of simultaneously improving clinical TB diagnosis in children, and ways to increase access to a TB diagnosis. Additionally, we present the results of the ASLM pediatric stool-based testing survey, conducted in 46 African countries, showing the progress made this far as well as discuss some learnings from Nigeria, one of the pioneer countries for stool-based testing.
