This is in line with the vision of ASLM, “a healthier Africa through access to quality laboratory services for all” .”From Lab to the Market Place: ABCs of Diagnostic Product Development ” session gave participants practical insights in the full journey of diagnostic product development, from initial concept to market entry. The presenter explored the key stages of the product development lifecycle, including feasibility, prototyping, validation, and regulatory approval. He also covered how to navigate critical regulatory frameworks such as FDA and CE marking, and understand the importance of design controls, quality systems, and clinical validation. The session also provided strategic knowledge on commercializing diagnostic innovations, including market assessment, business model development, and go-to-market planning. Real-world case studies that highlight both the successes and challenges experienced by The Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) were shared, offering valuable lessons and actionable takeaways for aspiring innovators.
