On 11 February 2021, ASLM, in collaboration with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s International Laboratory Branch (CDC ILB) and partnership with Roche, hosted a webinar aimed at creating access to tools that will help laboratories improve their activities and services for viral load (VL) and early infant diagnosis (EID). The presentation provides a snapshot of elements of DBS collection, Innovative Plasma Separation Card (PSC), and an online assay to help laboratories to streamline and standardise the assay verification processes. Clement Zeh, Team Lead for HIV VL and EID at the CDC ILB, and Asif Ali, Global Access Program Project Manager at Roche, provide more insight and information on tools developed in partnership with CDC ILB and Roche, which when utilized, will support the continued scale-up of HIV VL and EID. These tools provide supportive training and implementation efforts and can contribute to improving laboratory efficiency and strengthening across the programs. This public-private partnership (PPP) and collaboration provides updates for the latest innovation to support HIV programs and helps to reduce time spent building training implementation and other laboratory activities. This presentation can help to strengthen a laboratory system, develop a global workforce, and help optimise the laboratory workspace.
