On 16 Feb 2023, ASLM’s LabCoP convened an Extended session about an ultra-sensitive rapid diagnostic test for malaria; a potential solution for accelerating malaria elimination and its role in surveillance. Presentations were made by Luis Gonzalez, Global Director, Medical and Scientific Affairs; Xavier Ding, Clinical Strategy Manager, Infectious Disease Emerging Markets; and Carlos Cardenas, Global Marketing Director, Digital Products, Infectious Disease Emerging Markets; all from Abbott. They highlighted how this test is deployable in situations of passive, active and reactive case detection, its use among specific population categories, including pregnant women and general malaria surveillance in low-transmission zones.
