August 2024 LabCoP ECHO Session – Demystifying service-level agreements for molecular based testing: A VL/EID PEPFAR experience
September 6, 2024
On 15 August, ASLM’s LabCoP held a monthly ECHO session exploring the concept of the all-inclusive reagent rental model, essential elements of the SLAs, and key lessons learned through nearly five years of SLA implementation in numerous PEPFAR-supported countries. It is critical to optimize the management of procurement and supply chain in the medical sector. When healthcare providers procure through an optimized supply chain, they enjoy lower costs, enhanced revenues, and, most importantly, are able to provide uninterrupted care. In this session, presentations are made by Jason William, Technical Laboratory Lead; Yulia Johansen, Global Viral Load Team Lead; and Fadzai Marange, Senior Diagnostics Advisor; all from USAID’s Global Health Supply Chain’s Procurement and Supply Management project (GHSC-PSM). They share PEPFAR’s experience in establishing molecular instrument-based service-level agreements (SLAs) with global diagnostics manufacturers for viral load (VL) and early infant diagnosis (EID) testing. The presentations also cover concepts of the all-inclusive reagent rental model, essential elements of the SLAs, and key lessons learned through nearly five years of SLA implementation in PEPFAR-supported countries.
