The WHO recommendation on near point-of-care nucleic acid amplification tests (nPOC NAATs) and the adoption of these tools by 13 countries through the Global Fund SI/CIFF mechanism have shifted the discussion from technology validation to implementation at scale. In this webinar, Prachi Singhvi, Swarnika Ahuja and Dr. Kelvin Charambira shared evidence from a multi-country demand forecasting exercise conducted across 10 high-burden TB markets, including seven in Africa. The analysis combined quantitative modelling with approximately 100 stakeholder interviews to project nPOC adoption through 2030. Speakers highlighted that demand is shaped less by epidemiological need alone and more by financing, site readiness, and diagnostic network design. The session explored how countries can plan diagnostic network transitions, procurement and financing so that nPOC investments expand access rather than simply replace existing testing capacity.
