This report provides a comprehensive summary of the proceedings, key insights, and outcomes of the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) Special Convention on Diagnostics, held from 25–27 November 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya. The convention brought together a wide range of stakeholders—including policymakers, laboratory leaders, researchers, civil society representatives, and industry partners—to assess progress, address ongoing challenges, and strengthen collaborative efforts in tackling Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) across Africa.
The discussions underscored a shared recognition that effective and accessible diagnostic systems are fundamental to a strong and coordinated AMR response. This document captures the collective perspectives, commitments, and practical recommendations generated during the three-day convening, with the aim of informing future policy direction, strategic investments, and programmatic interventions across the continent.
