On 1 June, a session on data-driven tuberculosis (TB) control was held, highlighting South Africa’s commitment to strengthening transparency, accountability, and public access to health information. The session emphasized that the public-facing TB dashboard was developed as part of a broader effort to ensure government accountability to citizens and is one of several dashboards across priority disease areas.
It incorporates national strategic plan targets and provides near real-time updates, tracking TB testing outputs against clearly defined targets while being openly accessible to the public. The dashboard is also interactive, allowing users to drill down to sub national levels for more detailed insights, thereby supporting targeted decision making and improved programme monitoring.
Presenters further indicated their willingness to provide technical support to other African countries interested in adopting similar approaches, promoting cross-country learning and the use of innovative, data-driven solutions to strengthen health systems and accelerate progress toward TB elimination and universal health coverage.
