July 2025 AMR CoP ECHO Session: Success Stories and Challenges in Implementing Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in Resource-Limited Settings

AMR CoP ECHO

As we continue to confront the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) remains one of the most powerful and cost-effective interventions for breaking the chain of transmission of infectious agents, particularly in resource-limited environments where the burden is often highest. This session explores practical experiences, lessons learned, and what it takes to strengthen IPC implementation. The session also reflects on how these efforts directly impact AMR containment in both clinical and public health contexts.

The presentation was made by Prof. Revathi Gunturu, the Head of Clinical Microbiology at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya.
