COVID-19 ECHO Session #29: Manufacturers of COVID-19 Rapid Diagnostics Tests: STANDARD Q

October 24, 2020

On 23 October, 2020 ASLM’s LabCoP hosted the ninth session in a series about manufacturers of COVID-19 molecular diagnostic tools, featuring STANDARD Q COVID-19 antigen rapid diagnostic test (Ag RDT). A new global partnership by WHO, The Global Fund, UNITAID, Africa CDC, FIND and other partners ensures that low-priced, high-quality Ag RDTs are available internationally as they will help ward off test shortages experienced since the start of the pandemic. In this session Mr Cedric Jo, International Project Coordinator for SD Biosensor, based in the Republic of Korea, introduces the company profile and experience in the development of rapid diagnostics solutions in immunoassays, molecular diagnostic development, and instrument development for point-of-care (POC) for global public health issues and emergencies. He delves in the key details of SD Biosensor’s STANDARD Q COVID-19 Ag RDT, the performance characteristics of the kit, the technical requirements for operation, validation studies, and he shares comparison of the kit against the gold standard PCR, the kit’s consumables, the status of regulatory approval and listing as an Emergency Use Listing (EUL), and how the tests can be deployed to support testing programmes for COVID-19 epidemic disease control. ASLM does not endorse this product over other rapid diagnostics in the global market and the purpose of this session is to provide a platform for information only. This information may also be of relevance to those interested in public-private partnerships.
