The African region continue to bear the burden of communicable diseases including those emanating from epidemic prone pathogens. This burden is exacerbated by the region’s limited diagnostic network capacity and resources. Single disease, Multi-disease testing platforms and multiplex testing are approaches that can improve efficiency and effective delivery of diagnostic services when considerations are made on the most optimal approach.
In this session, presented by Dr. Suwilanji Silwamba, a research fellow at the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia, we share the work on enhancing clinical diagnostic capacity for infectious diseases through the National Mulit-Pathogen Diagnostic Program (NMPDP). The team highlights their current focus, key considerations and some of the emerging opportunities in this initiative implementation
