ASLM Launches Fellowship/Internship Program to Empower the Next Generation of Laboratory Professionals

The African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) is excited to announce the launch of its inaugural Internship Program, aimed at empowering young professionals across the African continent in the fields of laboratory medicine and diagnostics. The 12-month program provides participants with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience through project engagements, mentorship from seasoned professionals, and access to capacity-building initiatives.

This Program is designed to expose participants to the critical work of health systems strengthening, pathogen genomics, and diagnostics for the prevention and control of infectious diseases. Interns will rotate through different thematic areas, gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

This first cohort of interns will be involved in key projects aligned with ASLM’s mission to advance laboratory systems and diagnostics across Africa. They will also receive extensive training through the ASLM Academy and participate in networking events, further expanding their professional connections.

“We are thrilled to welcome these talented individuals to ASLM. They represent the future of diagnostics and health systems in Africa, and we are committed to providing them with the tools and guidance they need to excel,” said Nqobile Ndlovu, CEO of ASLM.

ASLM looks forward to supporting the professional growth of these emerging leaders and seeing their contributions to strengthening laboratory networks across the continent.

Stay tuned for updates on their journey and accomplishments throughout the year!
