APHLN Listserv
African Public Health Laboratory Network (APHLN) Listserv
The African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) is a pan-African professional body working to advocate for the critical role and needs of laboratory medicine and networks throughout Africa. ASLM works to strengthen laboratory systems in Africa.
One critical aspect of strengthening laboratory systems encompasses enhancing communication systems among national laboratory leaders. As such, with support from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL), ASLM has launched the African Public Health Laboratory Network (APHLN) Listserv.
Purpose of the APHLN ListServ:
- To facilitate discussions and information sharing among national laboratory directors and ministry of health representatives responsible for laboratory services in their country or their designee/s.
Membership in the APHLN ListServ is open to:
- Ministry of Health representatives responsible for laboratory services in their country.
- Directors of the national laboratories in Africa or their designee(s).
- Representatives from ASLM, APHL, CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO) may participate in these discussions to share information where appropriate.
- The Listserv will be monitored by ASLM and APHL staff to help facilitate responses to questions.
What is a Listserv?
- This discussion Listserv is an e-mail group which offers a forum for the exchange of information relevant to public health laboratories and epidemiologists in regards to implementation of laboratory testing, surveillance, preparedness and response practices in general. We encourage you to pose technical questions, request example strategies and approaches, and discuss common concerns amongst your peers.
How to Join the APHLN Listserv:
- If you meet the membership requirements listed above, please send an ASLM-APHLN-owner@lists.aphl.org for enrolment consideration. Enrolment will be determined on a case-by-case basis using the requirements outlined on this page.
