Three systematic reviews have been published (Nash et al 2018; Agutu et al 2019; Sacks et al 2019) synthesising data from 13 studies that have assessed the performance of the Xpert HIV-1 Viral Load assay as compared with current reference standards. Overall, Xpert HIV-1 Viral Load assay performed well with high sensitivity, high specificity, and limited bias.
