Strategic plans and policy documents are dynamic. Their development is only the first step to successful management of a laboratory system. The development of annual operational plans is imperative to the successful implementation of strategic plan goals. The effective use of these documents requires frequent monitoring and evaluation of progress made. This workshop will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully navigate this strategic process.

This 4-day workshop is designed to present an in-depth description of the process of developing and implementing a national lab policy and implementing, monitoring and evaluating a laboratory strategic plan. The 4th optional day will address the roles of leadership, communication and team building in the implementation process.
